Introducing stories, design services, and forthcoming projects
I struggled with whether or not to start this blog. I used to blog starting back in 2013 but I’ve been on hiatus from it for a few years now. On my best days, I wondered if blogs were still relevant and if I’d have the energy to maintain a consistent stream of content to make it worthwhile. On my worst days, I wondered if what I have to say is original enough to take up space in a world already saturated with content. What I decided, is that the answer to the “best days” questions doesn’t matter and that the answer to the “worst days” is the whole purpose.
What do I mean by this? For the several years that I was on hiatus from blogging, and probably much longer than that, I felt stifled in writers’ block. I felt held back by polite professionalism, by fear and doubt, by inexperience, by unhealed trauma, by past failures and mistakes, by apathy and brain fog and by wanting to live my life off the internet. But lately, I’ve felt ready to reclaim a platform and share my voice as I both stumble and stride. The internet is boundless, there is room for all of us.
So, what can you expect from this venture?
There are three main goals of this new site:
- Sharing content based on four categories
- Providing design services for purpose-driven organizations
- Launching forthcoming creative projects
1. Sharing content based on four categories
When I looked at all the topics I’m interested in writing about, it boiled down to four main categories: excavating meaning through stories, reawakening with creativity, recentering communications, and thriving, savouring, and embracing.
Excavating meaning through stories explores how stories (e.g. movies, books, current events, etc.) help us make sense of our lives, our purpose, and the world.
Reawakening with creativity is all about how nurturing our inner artist and pursuing creative projects helps us to heal.
Recentering communications proposes ways that marketing and communications can move towards more compassionate, mindful, and values-driven tactics and goals.
Thriving, savouring, and embracing is the lifestyle section of the blog. Kind of a catch-all to be able to talk about things that inspire me to thrive, savour, and embrace life.
2. Providing design services for purpose-driven organizations
I’m launching back into the world of freelance and am now offering, web, graphic, and content design services for purpose-driven organizations. Work that excites me is rooted in making the world a more gentle, equitable, and inclusive place. Let’s create together!
3. Launching forthcoming creative projects
I’m in the process of creating and am excited to launch some new products soon. Stay tuned as I bring these ideas to life.
